We are in New Bern NC staying at the Aerie Bed and Breakfast. This Victorian Inn was built in 1882 and was originally named the Street-Ward House. The Aerie Bed & Breakfast is an historic site in North Carolina that has been called home by a justice of the peace and hotelier, a State Senator, a social worker, and tenants that included a WWII nurse, a cousin of the Wright Brothers who happened to share Orville’s name, and the son of Pepsi-Cola inventor Caleb Bradham!
Below are a couple of pictures from Inside the Inn including the room we are staying in.
The breakfast here was absolutely awesome and better than any other Inn we have stayed in. On the menu this morning was either French Toast, Eggs, or Pancakes. I had the pancakes. They were made with ginger and instead of syrup, they had a lemon sauce you put over them and while I thought it would be gross, it was actually very good.
Anyone who has spent time in North Carolina knows the slogan for Pepsi.....Born in the Carolina's. Well for me, being a true fan of Pepsi, visiting New Bern was much like a muslim going to Mecca in that this is where it was invented. In fact, I went to the very spot where the original building still stands. It was once a pharmacy and is now a soda fountain type store !
On a final note, I just wanted to say that.......The rest area on I-85 traveling north towards Greensboro does a great job in keeping the restrooms clean....and...I think those jeans make my butt look big !

ReplyDeleteThat sure is some manly decorum in the bedroom. Lance Bass loves what they've done with the window treatments.
ReplyDeletethe pancakes sound delicious...in fact I am looking forward to my first Bed and Breakfast experience simply for the Breakfast part. Because as for the Bed part...every picture you have sent me from the various B&Bs you and mom stay at get more and more dainty. The only thing that could make you look LESS manly whilst sprawled out on the frilly duvet would be chichi laying next to you and mom painting your toenails (or lack thereof.)
ReplyDeleteand another thing...I'm appalled you went to a place with the freshest seafood you can find and got frog legs. just goes to show...you can take the man out of the swamp, but you can't take the swamp out of the man.
Retired life is really tough!!! When are you coming to Texas?

ReplyDeleteNot sure about when I can make it to Texas but I will be at moms house the week of March 6th through the 11th.
